#TBT Throwback Photo Album

So since I have been extremely busy with art and markets an art shows... I haven't been able to take as many artistic photos as I like and have been reminiscing a bit. Once upon a time I wanted to be a fashion photographer but then realized I am not that cut throat to be one. I shot at a few fashion shows and have been easily pushed aside from a prime spot or had many elbows and heads shoved infront of my shot. This I am not very fond of at all. Also being a photographer is EXPENSIVE!  Equipment, printing , and booking.... oh my you really do shell out the big bucks!

I did wedding photography for a little bit but although I am very fond of weddings, they do seem to be quite stressful. I shot one on my own and it kinda was the last one I offered to do. I am up to possibly shooting again, I'm feeling like it was a fun way to make a living.

For now I haven't been concentrating on photography and so my trigger finger is itchy. I hope to jump back into it on a regular basis once more. For now though I started a Throwback Album where I will place my long lost images that I haven't shown to pretty much anyone. I am thinking of doing a zine or a full on art book :). I am not too sure. Maybe I will call it Reminisce of a Dream-filled Mind.

Here is a link to the photo album: Click here

It's been over 6 MONTHS!

I apologize for the huge gap! Social media has been hard to keep up on since I have not been spending much time on the interwebs via my computer! I just got a new phone for the time being and it allows me to keep up more with the NOW X)! So I guess I will be keeping up with it from now on :).

Life has definitely been good although no longer working a desk job does keep me somewhat out of the loop. Strange that a computer would actually keep you in the loop rather than living real life and socializing :p! Oh well, life has been crazy busy but I am keeping somewhat of a handle on it.

Throughout the past 6 months I have joined quite a few markets and a good amount of galleries! My favorite to show at is LTD art Gallery! I will be doing a post dedicated to just them next. I have also branched out to LA. I was lucky enough to have a piece in UglyCon at Giant Robot Gallery. That was a huge highlight for me! My work was also shown in two shows at Supahcute. Which is smaller but is actually my favorite LA gallery for the time being. There are many more galleries I am venturing out to but it will take hard work and time. I will definitely be keeping you posted!

As for what is next, I am currently concentrating on a solo show in August and BlytheCon! This year it is in Seattle so please come join us!!

MONSTERS UPDATE!

DAY 8: OCTOMAID
I wanted a little more variation and playfulness in the octomaid bc it was more obvious to do an ursula approach.

DAY 9: DEMON
This I think is my favorite so far in a more design sense :)

DAY 10: SUCCUBUS
I went for a more innocent approach, I figured it was better than the more gaudy attempt or raunchy design that involved intercourse.

ART! I realized I never posted these!

I donated these pieces to a friend of mine for a fundraiser to help promote art and the creativity! My close friend Callie Carlin hosted this event.

The Puget Sound Campus Center of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) would like to invite you join us for our annual Community Give Back event. This year, we take the principle of “community” and put it into practice.http://www.facebook.com/events/338476416191140/

PLANT LADAY

 DAY 7: PLANT GIRL
This is a seperate post I am doing bc plant girl in particular has been something I tend to draw often, here is a little back history. I kind of figured I take you through a little tour of what I have record of.

2001 I was highly infatuated with Gustav Klimt from the day I first saw a
painting by him, I was also very influenced by him. I made a painting of two women one emerging from the ground and one decaying into the ground, I never documented this but once I find it,  I shall!!

2006: A sketch I did of a tree made of women, also influenced by Gustav Klimt, but I started using my own textures.

2007: A comic exercise where we took an existing comic cover and created an image that was completely unrelated. I believe I started honing in on my own style around this time. Becoming more infatuated with textures! So this is around the beginning of my metamorphosis.

2008: A concept from an art exhibit I was creating. Women trees with long necks!

2009: A coworker and I at Utrecht would sketch during down time. Paul Merkercher would draw character concepts and I would soop them up with my texturing skills!! As you can see I  started getting better with variation in my textures :).

On the left: Paul's line work in red. On the right: What I came up with from basic sketch.

2012: FINALLY she emerges again! PLANT GIRL !! We are now up to date. I basically spent 2010 and 2011 making movies and doing 3D so it's nice to have time to feed my creativity :)!

Self portrait

As an artist you will always have to do a self portrait as years go by. I have done quite a few...this last one was for a drawing group. I believe I have a patronus and my patronus happens to be a narwhal! my last self portrait I made with a narwhal was pretty humorous.

I usually draw myself in such a fashion but this time I wanted to take myself more seriously.
Which didn't end up not so serious in the end.

ATTEMPT 1:

So I was left feeling I didn't particularly portray me the way I feel expresses me accurately
enough. Therefore it was back to the drawing board and attempt 2 was created.

ATTEMPT 2:

What can I say, that's more like it.
